II.Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    Provide nutritional support, improve attention span by alleviating short-term hunger and stabilize attendance and reduce drop-out rates at assisted schools mainly in the mountains.
  2. Activities / contents
    • Provide nutritional support to primary schoolchildren in the foothills and mountain regions, which will help to improve their attention span by alleviating the effects of short-term hunger.
    • Stabilize attendance and reduce drop-out rates of students at assisted primary schools predominantly in the mountain regions.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    • Cooked meals for 180 days a year for 192,000 primary schoolchildren attending schools in targeted areas.
    • Average monthly attendance rates to be stabilized at 90% minimum.
    • Drop-out rates not to exceed 20%
    • Primary school leaving examination pass rates to be not less than 80% of students taking examination.
