II.Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    The long-term objective s to contribute to the overall progress of the country through the development of its human resources. The immediate objectives are to: a) increase enrolment, stabilise attendance and reduce drop out rates at selected primary schools; and b) improve the attention span and hence the learning capacity of public by relieving short-term hunger.
  2. Activities / contents
    WFP provides school meals to primary school students in chronic food deficit areas.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    Up to 230,000 students will benefit from regular school attendance and improved learning capacity.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    The present project is in line with the agenda for action in areas of poverty alleviation and education.
