- Objectives
To improve the quality of primary school education in the disadvantaged areas in the northern region of Ghana. - Activities / contents
To construct 500 schools; rehabilitate 1,500 classrooms; provide 38,280 double desks and 1,914 tables and chairs for teachers, 1,914 lock-able cupboards and supplementary reading books and teaching aids; and provide for training teachers in school management. - Expected outcomes / impacts
About 76,560 places for new intakes will be created. The project is also expected to bolster the enrolment of girls as part of the government's emphasis on gender equity in primary education. In addition, the project will provide management training to a substantial number of women head teachers. - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
The project is expected to contribute to human capital development and gender mainstreaming.
