II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    The objective of the project is to support Government efforts in poverty alleviation and malnutrition affecting vulnerable groups in remote rural areas and peri-urban slums.
  2. Activities / contents
    Provision of food aid to primary school canteens and orphan boarders; support to local initiatives benefiting women in poor rural and peri-urban areas; provision of food aid to rural/peri-urban women to attend literacy courses and health care/traditional birthing techniques.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    Increased learning capacity of 5,500 primary school children, improved availability of food for 356 orphans, increased attendance in literacy courses and health care services for 1,050 women.
  4. Features in line with the Agenda for Action
    The present project is in line with the agenda for action in areas of poverty alleviation, education and health.
