- Objectives
Develop, manage and maintain infrastructure and other services through Area Based Organizations (ABOs) with emphasis on particularly vulnerable individuals. - Activities / contents
Participatory appraisal and needs assessment; ABO elections; ABO members trained; partnership workshops with Council and other organizations; ABO gender training and appraisals; appraise and design water systems; implement water projects; implement financial management systems; ABOs implement other service/infrastructure projects; commence formation of savings groups and personal empowerment and livelihoods improvement training; commence loans to savings groups; establishment of loans to revolving loan funds. - Expected outcomes / impacts
Effective and representative ABOs in 13 compounds in Lusaka and 1 compound in Livingstone, supported through improved linkages with City Councils; infrastructure and service provision improved including 11 new water supply systems and existing 3 maintained, together with related sanitation improvements; effective community based savings and loan schemes established in the compounds. - Features in line with the Agenda for Action
Contributes towards poverty eradication and infrastructure provision including access to safe water.
