II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    The long-term objectives are to stabilize land productivity, increase farmers' incomes and improve food security in chronically food deficit regions of Ethiopia. The immediate objectives are to protect and develop and estimated 192,000 hectares of land through conservation of soil and water. Some 286,000 hectares of woodlots and community forest plantations will also be established.

    Food-for-work soil and water conservation, forestry and rural infrastructure. Government and community level capacity building.
