- Objectives
The project will contribute to rural socio-economic development through the implementation of priority programmes aimed at improving the rural populations' work performance, while at the same time giving them greater control over their working environment and raising their living standards. - Activities / contents

- Expected outcomes / impacts
Support to natural resource and production development:
- Soil and water conservation: 25,000 ha stone works + 500 gully plugs
- Forestry: 900 ha dune fixation + 500 slope stabilisation by planting
- Water resource development: 1,000 ha irrigated scheme development + 400 ha bottomland development + 70 dam construction and repair + 12,150 meters well sinking and deepening
- Land settlement: 8,510 families settled
- Allocation of grains to cereal banks: 4,500 MTN of grains allocated to 300 grain banks built by WFP
- Initial literacy: 150,000 trainees
- Further basic training: 75,000 trainees
- specialised technical training: 40,000 trainees
- Regional roads works: repair of 1,850 Km and maintenance of 4,575 km
- Community infrastructure construction: Routine maintenance and shaping of 2,000 Km and repair of 150 km of village tracks + construction of 15 bridging works.

This WFP project is in line with the Agenda for Action as it covers two of its topics:
Poverty alleviation and population.
