II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    Increasing agricultural production in Morogoro Region through removal of transport constraints
  2. Activities / contents
    Ensure a sustainable maintenance of roads and bridges
    Rehabilitate priority roads as much as possible with funding from various sources
    Strengthening of Regional Engineers Office (RED)
    Training of RED-staff
    Evaluation 1998: recommends to extend project by 1 year (7/99 - 6/00), in order to achieve expected results of phase 3.
    The project suffered from some delays.

    • Regional Engineers Office strengthened
    • Road and Bridge Maintenance System Functioning
    • Important road sections rehabilitated and/or upgraded
