II. Project / program description

  1. Objectives
    (1) To alleviate poverty by providing vocational training and an access to micro finance.
    (2) To improve the delivery of such civil services as primary health care,education and water supply by strengthening the institutional capacity of rural communities.
    (3) To help micro scale farmers gain skills for agriculture and live stock raising.
  2. Activities / contents
    (1) Introduction of micro credit by UNCDF(UN Capital Development Fund:Micro Start)
    (2) CIRDAP(Center on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific) dispatches experts to disseminate know-how and give training on integrated rural development for strengthening institutional capacity of rural communities in order to improve civil service delivery like primary health care, education, water supply.
    (3) Asian experts will be dispatched to provide technical assistance to micro scale farmers for agriculture and livestock production as well as vocational training to generate employment.
  3. Expected outcomes / impacts
    To help raise the living standard and generate employment which are conducive to poverty alleviation, i.e. the goal of African development.

    To achieve such goals specified in the Agenda for Action as Poverty alleviation, South South Cooperation, Social Development
