- (i) Held the First Japan-Africa Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting with the participation of ministers responsible for Science and Technology Policy of 32 African countries and the representatives of AU Commission and NEPAD Secretariat in Tokyo, Japan on 8 October, 2008. Ministers exchanged views on the direction of science and technology cooperation between Japan and African countries.
(ii) Dispatched the African Science and Technology Research Mission composed of 26 members, including ones from 4 ministries and 10 R&D agencies, from February 18 to March 8, 2009, as a follow-up activity of the First Japan-Africa Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting. (Visited Countries: Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia (AU HQ), Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda)
