Current Status of Implementation 2009

- (i) (a) As of December 2009, funding agreements totalling $ 32 million were signed with partners and additional funding agreements are pending. (b) The WBG* is supporting development of country-level agricultural strategies and related expenditure and investment plans. Regional initiatives to facilitate joint research in agricultural science and shared application of results are underway. The Agricultural Productivity Program is moving into a second phase in West Africa and the East African Program is under implementation. A similar program for Southern Africa is under development.
*The WBG is also a member of the CARD initiative.

- (i) A $65 million trust fund to support the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) roundtable processes was established in September 2008.
(iv) Japan is going to provide US$100 million over the next five years, through a trust fund at the World Bank, for the comprehensive assistance to African agriculture.
