- (i) Non-sovereign loan to AfDB from GoJ (MOFA): A loan of approximately $300 million was provided by GoJ (MOFA) to AfDB (signed in 2008) for supporting private sector operations including SMEs. Under this loan and first private sector assistance loan, 17 sub projects were endorsed by Japanese Government including 5 SMEs projects. (ii) AfDB is channeling GOJ/MOF grant resources under FAPA to SMEs, approximately $3.6 million for SMEs TA and Capacity Building in 2009.

Current Status of Implementation 2008
- Status
- (i) GoJ (MOFA) provided approximately $300 million to AfDB as Second Private Sector Assistance Loan (PSAL) under the Joint Initiative Titled EPSA for Africa on 11 September 2008. JICA so far disbursed $275 million of 2nd PSAL resources to AfDB for lending to Private Sector operations including African SMEs through partner Financial Intermediaries. (ii) In addition, AfDB channeled GOJ/MOF grant resources under FAPA to SMEs, approximately $4.9 million for SMEs Technical Assistance and Capacity Building in 2008.
