On October 29, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the reception commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Foreign Press Center Japan (FPCJ), hosted by the FPCJ, representing MOFA and delivered his remarks.

  1. In his remarks, State Minister HORII expressed his congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the FPCJ and paid tribute to the FPCJ for laying the foundation for mutual understanding between Japan and the international community since its establishment in 1976, by providing foreign media with prompt and accurate information and serving as a bridge between foreign media and the Japanese government, local governments, and businesses.
  2. Furthermore, he stated that, in today's world, where we are inundated with information, journalism's role in being on the ground, carefully verifying the facts, and conveying accurate information is essential for international stability. He also stated that communicating Japan’s efforts toward international peace, stability, and prosperity to the world through foreign media is vital in strengthening the bonds between Japan and the world and deepening mutual understanding. He also expressed his hope that, building on its trust with foreign media which it has cultivated over the years, the FPCJ would help forge even stronger ties between Japan and the world.
