U.S. Ambassadors’ and U.S. Government Officials’ Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister MOTEGI

 On October 8, commencing at 4:35 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by U.S. ambassadors stationing in Indo-Pacfic countries and U.S. government officials.

  1. At the outset, Minister MOTEGI stated that as the security environment becomes increasingly severe, the Japan-U.S. Alliance has become even more important. Furthermore, Minister MOTEGI expressed his desire to work together to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
  2. U.S. participants expressed the United States’ unwavering commitment to the Indo-Pacific region. The U.S. side also underscored the role of the Japan-U.S. Alliance in the region and the importance of coordination among like-minded countries. Minister MOTEGI and the U.S. participants exchanged their views on regional issues and concurred to work closely together towards the stability and the prosperity in the region.
  3. Minister MOTEGI conveyed Japan’s position regarding a robbery-murder that occurred in Okinawa Prefecture and emphasized the importance of preventing the recurrence of incidents.
