Attendance by State Minister for Foreign Affairs NAKASONE at the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Spain

On October 8, Mr. NAKASONE Yasutaka, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the National Day reception of the Kingdom of Spain, which was held in Tokyo, and delivered his remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
- In his remarks, State Minister NAKASONE mentioned that Japan and Spain, which are strategic partners sharing fundamental values, are strengthening cooperation across a wide range of fields, including defense as well as science and technology, and expressed his hope for further promoting cooperation with Spain toward the realization of the updated "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)." He also noted that the "Japan-Spain Forum", where representatives from industry, government, and academia gather for discussion, has played an important role over many years in fostering bilateral cooperation, and expressed his hope for both countries to continue working together to ensure the success of the next forum.
- State Minister NAKASONE also extended his congratulations on Spain's victory in this year's FIFA World Cup and expressed his hope for the further development of the relationship between Japan and Spain, including through bilateral exchanges in the field of sports.
