Video Message by Foreign Minister MOTEGI at the 19th Japan-Singapore Symposium

On September 11, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a video message at the 19th Japan-Singapore Symposium that was held in Singapore.

  1. Minister MOTEGI congratulated on the Japan-Singapore Symposium that takes place in the year marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. He stated that the Japan-Singapore Symposium, which was launched in 1995, has now developed into a valuable intellectual foundation that discusses responses to challenges facing the regional and international community, and supports the strengthening of cooperation between Japan and Singapore. Minister MOTEGI expressed his gratitude to those who have been involved in the symposium to date.
  2. Minister MOTEGI also stated that at a turning point in history, Singapore, which shares fundamental values and principles and has jointly upheld and promoted a free and open international order based on the rule of law, is a very reassuring regional partner for Japan. He also mentioned that under the "Strategic Partnership" between the two countries, he would like to materialize cooperation in the priority areas of cooperation and further advance the relationship between Japan and Singapore together with a long-time friend, Foreign Minister Balakrishnan.
