Exchange of views between State Minister KUNIMITSU and Ambassador Siam

On September 1, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Waleed SIAM, Ambassador, Representative, the Permanent General Mission of Palestine.

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Palestine and explained Japan’s position and efforts in light of the situation surrounding the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. She also stated that Japan would make the necessary efforts to achieve a two-state solution and lasting peace and prosperity in the Middle East. In this regard, Ambassador Siam explained Palestine’s position and expressed expectations to Japan’s role.
  2. State Minister KUNIMITSU also explained Japan’s initiatives and support for Palestine, including the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) and the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP), which will mark its 20th anniversary next year. In response, Ambassador Siam expressed his gratitude for Japan’s longstanding assistance.
  3. Both sides concurred on continuing close communication for the development of Japan-Palestine relations and regional peace and stability.
