Special Exhibition: "Showa Diplomacy: Records of a Turbulent Era"
The year 2026 marks exactly one hundred years since 1926, the first year of the Showa era. To commemorate this milestone, the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will host a special exhibition entitled "Showa Diplomacy: Records of a Turbulent Era."
Utilizing treaty instruments and other historical records held by the Diplomatic Archives, the exhibition traces the course of Japan's diplomacy throughout the Showa era. It offers visitors an opportunity to reflect on the dedication of those who navigated that turbulent era, to draw lessons from the Showa-era diplomacy that laid the foundations of Japan as a peace-loving nation—foundations that remain enduring to this day—and to consider the path that Japan should chart for its future.
