On July 30, commencing at 1:20 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Dr. Oleh Chaban, Professor of Bogomolets National Medical University of Ukraine, together with three other representatives, who were visiting Japan upon invitation under the “Data Collection Survey on Mental Health and Cancer Treatment in Ukraine” implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed Professor Oleh Chaban, as well as the representatives from Bogomolets National Medical University and Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University of Ukraine to Japan. State Minister KUNIMITSU also expressed her hope that the experience obtained during their stay in Japan would contribute to the development of health sector in Ukraine and deepening the relations between Japan and Ukraine.
  2. In response, Professor Chaban extended his condolences to those who lost their lives in the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake. He also explained the current situation and challenges in the field of psychiatry in Ukraine, expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan and people of Japan for the their assistance, including in the medical sector, and stated that he would utilize the knowledge and experience gained during the visit in Japan to contribute to the development of healthcare in Ukraine.
