Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI by the Winners of the National Japan Bowl
On July 27, commencing at noon for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from a group of the Winners of the National Japan Bowl from the United States, who are invited to Japan through the KAKEHASHI Project.
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI welcomed the group and expressed his delight that high school students in the United States are studying the Japanese language and Japan. He also expressed his hope that they would continue to engage with Japan after graduating from high school and play a role in Japan-U.S. relations across various fields in the future.
- The group expressed their gratitude for the invitation and shared their impressions of visiting Japan. They also asked questions regarding the duties as the Parliamentary Vice-Minister and sought advice for students considering studying abroad in Japan.

The purpose of KAKEHASHI Project is to increase the interest in and understanding of Japan among outstanding young leaders in the North American region. By having them engage in activities that make the most of their visit experience, it aims to foster supporters and experts of Japan. The project promotes participants' understanding of Japan's politics, economy, society, culture, history, and foreign policy in accordance with their areas of expertise and interest and enhances their external communication about Japan.

The National Japan Bowl is a national quiz tournament for American high school students who are studying Japanese as a foreign language. Since its inception in 1992, the National Japan Bowl has been held jointly by the Embassy of Japan in the U.S. and the Japan-America Society of Washington, D.C.
