Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs SHIMADA’s Attendance at the Reception Welcoming Prime Minister Wale of the Solomon Islands on His Visit to Japan

On July 23, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered his remarks during the reception welcoming the visit of Hon. Matthew Cooper Wale, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, to Japan, hosted by the Honorary Consulate of Solomon Islands in Tokyo and the Japan Pacific Islands Association.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA, in his remarks, welcomed Prime Minister Wale’s visit to Japan shortly after taking office and stated that Japan and Solomon Islands have strengthened their relationship as friends connected by the Pacific Ocean since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1978.
  2. In addition, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA expressed his gratitude for the continued efforts by the Parliamentary Friendship Leagues of both countries and the private sector in advancing Japan-Solomon Islands relations. He also expressed his hope that the visit would serve as an opportunity to further deepen the friendship and bilateral relations between the two countries.
  3. Prime Minister Wale expressed his gratitude for Japan’s hospitality and conveyed his expectations for Japan’s leadership in realizing a rules-based and predictable world.
