TICAD Co-Organizers’ Meeting (Results)

On July 21 and 22, the Co-Organizers’ Meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  1. The meeting was attended by Dr. Raymond Gilpin, Chief Economist and Head of Strategy, Analysis and Research, Regional Bureau for Africa, United Nations Development Program (UNDP); Mr. Nathan Berete, Director, Regional Programs, Africa Region, World Bank; Mr. Steve Laland, Director of Partnership Management and Fund Mobilization, African Union Commission (AUC); and Mr. Jean-Paul Adam (online), Director of Policy, Monitoring, and Advocacy, Office of the Special Adviser on Africa to the United Nations Secretary General. From Japan, Ms. Misako Takahashi, Director-General and Assistant Minister for the African Affairs Department participated the meeting.
  2. At this Co-organizers’ Meeting, participants reviewed progress of the TICAD process since TICAD 9, held in August 2025, and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely together toward TICAD 10, which is scheduled to be held in Africa in 2028.
  3. Furthermore, discussions were held on the future direction of the TICAD and its evolution to respond effectively to the rapidly changing international community and Africa’s development priorities, building on the agreements reflected in the TICAD 9 Yokohama Declaration adopted in August 2025.
