Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII and Mr. Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, the United Nations

On July 16, commencing at 2:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Mr. Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, the United Nations, who is visiting Japan.
- At the outset, State Minister HORII stated that he welcomed Under-Secretary-General Kare's visit to Japan and Japan would continue to contribute to United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO), while noting that Japan has worked closely with the UN through the United Nations Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP).
- In response, Mr. Khare expressed his appreciation for Japan's significant support and contributions to UN PKO including Japan’s contributions towards TPP.
- The two sides then exchanged views on the outlook for TPP and the current situation of UN PKO, and concurred to continue to cooperate to improve the effectiveness of UN PKO, which plays an important role in peace and stability of the international community.
