Working Dinner between Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI and H.E. Kikwete, Board Chair of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE)

On July 14, from 7:00 p.m. for approximately 90 minutes, Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, hosted a working dinner with H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, Board Chair of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), who is visiting Japan.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI expressed her deep appreciation for Chair Kikwete’s significant contribution to advancing global education. She emphasized that quality education provides the foundation for sustainable development and commended GPE’s continued efforts to improve access to basic education.
  2. In response, Chair Kikwete expressed his appreciation for Japan’s longstanding support for GPE and conveyed his hope that Japan would continue to play an even greater role in advancing global education.
  3. The two sides reaffirmed the importance of promoting international cooperation in education and confirmed their commitment to continuing close collaboration.

GPE, which was established in 2002 under the leadership of the World Bank, is an international partnership to support the education sector in developing countries with the participation of developing countries, donor countries/institutions, civil society, and private enterprises/foundations.
