State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU’s Attendance at the Ministerial Roundtable of the 2026 UN Water Conference Co-chairs of the Interactive Dialogues

On July 14 (local time: July 13 p.m.), Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting New York, the United States, attended the Ministerial Roundtable of the 2026 UN Water Conference Co-chairs of the Interactive Dialogues.
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed the convening of the meeting under the leadership of the United Arab Emirates and Senegal, the Co-hosts of the 2026 UN Water Conference, and expressed her expectation that the discussions would contribute to the success of the Conference and advance international efforts toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 6.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU introduced Japan's initiatives in the field of water-related disaster risk reduction, including institutional development, River Basin Disaster Resilience and Sustainability by All, and the provision of disaster information through public-private cooperation. She also stated that Japan would continue to contribute to the international community by drawing on its accumulated knowledge and experience.
- Furthermore, State Minister KUNIMITSU also introduced developing the discussion framework for Interactive Dialogue C (Water for Planet), which Japan and Egypt co-chair, reflecting their accumulated expertise and views shared by the international community. She expressed Japan's commitment to continuing discussions with all stakeholders throughout the preparatory process with a view to achieving meaningful outcomes at the 2026 UN Water Conference.
