Entry into Force of the Japan-Zambia Investment Agreement

On June 30 (same day local time), the Government of Japan notified the completion of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the “Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Zambia for the Promotion and Protection of Investment” (signed on February 6, 2025) in Lusaka, Zambia. On the same day, the Government of Zambia received it. Accordingly, all the necessary procedures for the entry into force of this Agreement have been completed and the Agreement will enter into force on July 30, 2026.

This Agreement provides for comprehensive and detailed rules regarding promotion and protection of investment between Japan and the Republic of Zambia. The entry into force of this Agreement will contribute to promotion of the bilateral investments as well as further development of economic relations between the two countries.
