Exchange of Diplomatic Notes for the Entry into Force of the Protocol Amending the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Indonesia for an Economic Partnership

On June 26, in Jakarta (Indonesia), Japan and Indonesia exchanged diplomatic notes informing each other that their respective legal procedures necessary for entry into force of the Protocol amending the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Indonesia for an Economic Partnership (hereinafter referred to as "the Protocol") have been completed. With this exchange, the Protocol will enter into force on August 1, 2026.
- The Protocol expands the content of the Japan-Indonesia Economic Partnership Agreement through amendments that include enhanced rules across areas as well as improved market access for trade in goods and services.
- With the entry into force of the Protocol, it is expected that economic relations with Indonesia, the largest economy in the ASEAN region, will be promoted, and furthermore, the overall bilateral relations between Japan and Indonesia will be further strengthened.

Article 26 of the Protocol
- This Protocol shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date on which the Governments of the Parties exchange diplomatic notes informing each other that their respective legal procedures necessary for entry into force of this Protocol have been completed.
