On June 26, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended an International Symposium titled “Sustainable Blue Economy and Food Security in Africa – Forging Japan-Africa Partnership –”, organized by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and delivered a guest speech.

In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI stated that as the international situation becomes increasingly challenging, the need to strengthen cooperation with Africa has never been greater. In this context, he emphasized that the trust Japan has built with Africa over more than 30 years since the establishment of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) now serves as the foundation underpinning the current Japan-Africa relationship. He also underscored the importance of blue economy and food security in pursuing sustainable growth in Africa, and affirmed that Japan has been making concerted efforts to address these areas.
