The 15th Japan-UNDP Strategic Dialogue
On June 22, the 15th Japan-UNDP Strategic Dialogue was held in New York. From the Japanese side, Mr. NAKAMURA Ryo, Assistant Minister, Director-General for Global Issues, and others participated in person, while from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Linda Maguire, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau for Management Services, Ms. Shoko Noda, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Crisis Bureau, and others participated in person. Mr. Alexander De Croo, UNDP Administrator, also participated online for part of the dialogue.
- In this dialogue, Japan discussed various development issues with UNDP, a key development agency of the United Nations, including human security, partnerships with the private sector, digital and AI, climate change and disaster risk reduction, and crisis response, in the context of the international community facing complex crises.
- UNDP expressed deep gratitude for the Japanese government's contributions. Both sides confirmed their commitment to continue promoting the mainstreaming and implementation of human security and engaged in frank exchanges of views on strategic partnerships, including the advancement of development cooperation that incorporates private sector dynamism.
