Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU by Mr. Hirata, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture

Exchange of views between State Minister KUNIMITSU and Mr. Hirata, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture

On June 10, from 4:30 PM for approximately 15 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Hirata Ken, Governor of Nagasaki Prefecture.

  1. At the outset, Governor Hirata handed State Minister KUNIMITSU a petition including on the abolition of nuclear weapons and provided an overview of the petition.
  2. In response, State Minister KUNIMITSU explained the government's efforts regarding its foreign policy in the area of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, including at the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Review Conference.
  3. The two sides exchanged views including on efforts towards a world without nuclear weapons and other matters.
