Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister MOTEGI by JFA President MIYAMOTO

On June 1, from 11:15 a.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. MIYAMOTO Tsuneyasu, President of the Japan Football Association (JFA).
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI stated that, together with JFA President Miyamoto, he would like to encourage Japanese nationals traveling to the host countries to take appropriate safety measures, given that a large number of Japanese supporters are expected to watch the games onsite at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
- In response, JFA President MIYAMOTO expressed his intention to promote awareness of safety measures among Japanese supporters through joint appeals together with Minister MOTEGI. He further stated that JFA would like to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese diplomatic missions abroad even further than before, engaging in a variety of initiatives.
- Minister MOTEGI then explained the efforts to date by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the establishment of a dedicated page on safety measures on the websites of the Ministry, the Embassy of Japan in Mexico, and the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston. He also introduced plans to set up temporary offices near stadiums in Dallas and Monterrey in order to establish a posture of prompt response to the protection and assistance of Japanese nationals.
- In closing, Minister MOTEGI stated that he looks forward to the success of the Japanese national team at the World Cup. Together with President MIYAMOTO, he also appealed to Japanese nationals planning to watch the games onsite, prior to departure, for Tabi-Regi registration, which provides travelers with the latest local security and safety information.
