Exchange of Notes concerning Grant Aid to Kenya “the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship”

On May 3 (same day local time), H.E. Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and H.E. Hon. Dr. Musalia MUDAVADI, EGH, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, signed and exchanged notes for the Grant Aid “the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship” (grant amount up to 261 million yen) in Kenya.

  1. In Kenya, it has become an urgent issue to improve the administrative capacity of relevant ministries and agencies that handle various development issues, as well as to develop human resources among administrative officials responsible for institution building. This cooperation supports young officials from Kenya in obtaining a master’s degree at Japanese graduate schools.
  2. Through this cooperation, the young officials from Kenya are scheduled to study at graduate schools in Japan from fiscal year 2026. After returning to Kenya, those officials are expected to contribute to solving the development challenges facing their country, as well as to fostering mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and Kenya.
