Exchange of view between Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI and H.E. Mr. ELETREBY, Ambassador of Egypt to Japan

On April 30, for approximately 30 minutes from 3:20 p.m., Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Ragui ELETREBY, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Japan.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI welcomed to promote cooperation between Japan and Egypt in the various fields including economic cooperation and security based on the bilateral Strategic Partnership.
  2. He also noted that high-level visits between two countries have been invigorated in the past year, as many Ministerial visits to Japan on the occasion of TICAD and Osaka Kansai EXPO2025 as well as State Minister KUNIMITSU Ayano’s visit to Egypt to attend the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). He showed his expectation to continue to strengthen bilateral relations at various levels.
  3. In response, Ambassador Eletrebi stated to continue further cooperation in various fields including culture such as the GEM opening as a new symbol of bilateral relations, and education such as Egypt Japan University for Science and Technology (EJUST) and Egypt Japan School (EJS). He also expected for Japanese companies to expand into the Egyptian market in order to develop strong business relations which will be benefit for both sides.
  4. The two leaders concurred on maintaining close cooperation in a wide range of areas such as politics, economy, culture, security and climate change, based on the Strategic Partnership between two countries.
