Passage through the Strait of Hormuz by a Japan-related vessel

- On April 29, a Japan-related vessel which was retained in the Persian Gulf passed through the Strait of Hormuz and exited the Persian Gulf. This vessel, with three Japanese crew members on board, is currently navigating towards Japan.
- Japan has been urging Iran on various occasions including on summit and foreign ministerial levels, based on its position that it is important to promptly ensure free and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for vessels of all countries including Japan.
- The Government of Japan considers this passage of a Japan-related vessel as a positive development, including from the perspective of protection of Japanese Nationals.
- Japan will continue to urge Iran to ensure free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for all vessels, including those related to Japan.
