Statement of the G7 Non-Proliferation Directors Group (NPDG) on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)
On April 24, Statement of the G7 Non-Proliferation Directors Group (NPDG) on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) was released.
In this statement, the G7 NPDG reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the NPT and expressed its commitment to working with all States Parties to successfully hold this year’s NPT Review Conference and pursue the broadest possible consensus on measures to reinforce the NPT regime across all its three pillars (nuclear disarmament, nuclear non-proliferation and peaceful uses of nuclear energy). Furthermore, it outlines the NPDG's positions and contributions regarding support for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the strengthening of its safeguards system, as well as on issues concerning Iran, North Korea and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
