Meeting between Foreign Minister MOTEGI and Mr. DE CROO, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

On April 21, commencing at 4:40 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Mr. Alexander DE CROO, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who is visiting Japan.
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI welcomed Administrator DE CROO’s first visit to Japan since assuming office as UNDP Administrator, and stated Japan’s intention to further deepen its strategic collaboration with UNDP and to contribute to the maintenance and strengthening of global governance. In response, Administrator DE CROO expressed gratitude for Japan’s consistent support for UNDP and stated his intention to further strengthen the partnership with Japan across a wide range of fields.
- Both sides also exchanged views on promoting human security and on facilitating collaboration between UNDP and Japanese companies, and concurred to further strengthen their partnership.
- Minister MOTEGI also stated that increasing the number of Japanese staff members and ensuring their active roles are important for both Japan and UNDP, and called for the enhancement of recruitment and promotion of Japanese staff at UNDP.
