Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII Iwao and Hon. David PAUL, Minister of Finance, Banking and Postal Services of the Republic of the Marshall Islands

On April 2, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with the Hon. Mr. David PAUL, Minister of Finance, Banking and Postal Services of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister HORII stated that Japan would like to further enhance its relationship with the RMI, which shares values and principles including freedom, democracy, basic human rights, and the rule of law and is an important partner in realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”. In response, Minister Paul expressed his gratitude for Japan’s various support and cooperation.
  2. Both sides affirmed their intention to continue close coordination, including the recovery of the remains of war dead, and to enhance cooperation in preparation for the 11th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM11), which is scheduled to be held in Japan next year.
