Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Madagascar in Response to the Damage caused by Cyclone Gezani
On February 20, the Government of Japan has decided, upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Madagascar, to provide emergency relief goods (Tents, blankets etc) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the damage caused by Cyclone Gezani.
In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and the Republic of Madagascar, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to the Republic of Madagascar to support the people affected by Cyclone Gezani.

In the Republic of Madagascar, Cyclone Gezani struck the country from February 10 to February 11, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive physical damage. The eastern region of Madagascar in particular has suffered significant damage. The disaster has resulted in 59 deaths, and approximately 420,000 people have been affected.
