The Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance Mr. OKUBO’s Visit to the United States of America

On February 20 (February 19 local time), Mr. OKUBO Takeshi, the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, visited Washington D.C. and attended the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (Leaders’ Level) as an observer. The overview is as follows:

  1. Ambassador OKUBO attended as an observer the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, chaired by the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and exchanged views with the attendees on the future prospects for peace in the Middle East and ways of Japan's roles and engagement.
  2. Japan has consistently supported President Trump's efforts toward peace in the Middle East, including in Gaza, based on its position of actively contributing to the realization of peace and stability in the Middle East. Japan is determined to continue playing a proactive role in reconstruction of Gaza and will further advance its efforts such as sustained engagement in the governance mechanism of Gaza, comprehensive support for state-building efforts of Palestine, and expanding the network of assistance in Asia.
