On February 6, in Tokyo, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and H.E. Mr. Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser for Commerce, Textiles and Jute, and Civil Aviation and Tourism of the Interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, signed the “Agreement between Japan and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for an Economic Partnership” (Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)).

  1. State Minister HORII and Adviser Bashir welcomed today’s signing, noting that, as the Bangladesh’s first EPA, this Agreement will further strengthen the bond between the two countries.
  2. This Agreement is expected to further promote economic relations with Bangladesh, which connects rapidly growing Southwest and Southeast Asia, through improved market access for trade in goods and services and the development of relevant rules.
