Meeting between State Minister HORII and Mr. Tang, Director General of WIPO

On January 30, commencing at 3:30 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister HORII expressed Japan’s high appreciation for the leadership of Director General Tang and WIPO’s longstanding contribution to enhancing international collaboration in the field of intellectual property rights. State Minister HORII also stated that WIPO has been playing a vital role in the formation of rules and the enhancement of a free and fair economic order.
  2. In response, Director General Tang expressed his gratitude for Japan’s cooperation with WIPO to date, with Japan celebrating the 50th anniversary of its membership last year.
  3. They also exchanged views on future collaboration between Japan and WIPO.
