The first meeting under “Strategic Partnership Framework between Japan and MERCOSUR”

On January 27 (same day local time), Japan and Mercosur will hold the first meeting under "Strategic Partnership Framework between Japan and MERCOSUR" in Asunción, Paraguay.
- The framework was officially launched between Japan and Mercosur on December 20, 2025, and the two sides have been working together to hold the first meeting under this framework at an early date.
- The first meeting will be held with the attendance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and other relevant ministries (the head of delegation is Mr. ISHIZE Motoyuki, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Japan and Mercosur will discuss cooperation in a wide range of fields, such as trade and investment, to deepen the economic relations.
