Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI’s Visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

On December 25, local time, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The overview is as follows:

1. Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister Attaf

Exchanging Opinions between Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI and H.E. Mr. ATTAF, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria.

Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI made a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Ahmed ATTAF, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation with countries sharing fundamental values, amidst challenges to a free, open, and stable international order. He stated that Algeria is an important partner for Japan, and that this visit demonstrates Japan's commitment to strengthening its ties with the Maghreb region. Additionally, he requested for support in facilitating the smooth operations of Japanese companies, in light of the first Japan-Algeria Intergovernmental Joint Economic Committee.
In response, Foreign Minister Attaf expressed that Algeria shares fundamental values with Japan and maintains a good bilateral relationship. He expressed his willingness for Japan to further enhance its presence in the economic sector in the future.

2. Meeting with Secretary General Magramane

Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Lounès MAGRAMANE, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI reflected on the progress of bilateral relations and requested improvements in the business environment for Japanese companies, enhanced safety measures, and the establishment of transparent administrative procedures. He expressed his hope for elevating the relationship between the two countries to a new stage.
Secretary General Magramane welcomed the active exchanges of high-level visits and expressed his desire to further strengthen relations in various fields, including diplomacy and the economy.

3. Meeting with Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-Enterprises Ouadah

Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Noureddine OUADAH, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
Both sides concurred to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, particularly in the startup sector, following the recent visit of the startup delegation to Japan last month.
