Japan-Kyrgyz Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On December 19, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a Foreign Ministers’ meeting with H.E. Mr. Jeenbek KULUBAEV, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, who is visiting Japan to attend the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue (CA+JAD) Summit. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
On this occasion, the “Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2026-2027” and the Agreement between Japan and the Kyrgyz Republic for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance were signed.
- At the outset, Minister MOTEGI welcomed Foreign Minister KULUBAEV’s visit to Japan and also welcomed that the First Summit of CA+JAD will be held on December 20th with the participation of His Excellency Mr. Sadyr ZHAPAROV, President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
- Minister MOTEGI stated that he would like to closely work together to further deepen relations with the Kyrgyz Republic as comprehensive partners in maintaining and strengthening a free and open international order based on the rule of law, and welcomed the signing of the “Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2026-2027” and Agreement between Japan and the Kyrgyz Republic for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance. Foreign Minister KULUBAEV conveyed his gratitude for the various assistance Japan has provided so far.
- The two ministers also exchanged views on the regional situation as well as economic security, and confirmed that they will continue to work closely together in various fields.
