Participation of Senior Deputy Minister AKAHORI in the “Pax Silica Summit”

  1. On December 12 (local time), Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Washington D.C., attended the “Pax Silica Summit,” which was hosted by the U.S. Department of State.
  2. During the meeting, chaired by Mr. Jacob Helberg, Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, various subjects pertaining to economic security were discussed, including the strengthening of supply chain related to AI. At the beginning of the meeting, a signing ceremony was held for the “Pax Silica Declaration,” which was signed by Japan, the United States, Australia, Israel, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
  3. Attaching high importance to promoting economic security through cooperation with partners, Japan actively participated in the discussion. Before the meeting, Japan and the United States signed the “Japan-U.S. Joint Statement on the Eve of the Pax Silica Summit,” which affirms their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in economic fields, including economic security.
