The 1st Japan-Chile Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation

On December 9, the 1st Japan-Chile Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation (online format) was held.
- The joint committee was co-chaired by Mr.KAWAMURA Hiroshi, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation and Mr. Alejandro GIBBONS MUNIZAGA, Deputy Director of Science, Energy, Education, Innovation and Astronomy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, with the participation of Mr. SONE Kenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Chile,and H.E. Mr. Ricardo Gustavo ROJAS GONZÁLEZ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile to Japan, as well as representatives from relevant ministries and agencies of both countries attending online.
- The holding of this joint committee was based on the "Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Chile on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation" concluded in May 2023. During the committee, both countries introduced their science, technology, and innovation policies, and there was active discussion on the current status and future direction of science and technology cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as Astronomy, GX (Green Transformation), AI, Quantum Technology, Disaster prevention, and more.
