Meeting between Senior Deputy Minister NAMAZU and French Director-General of Political Affairs and Security MONDOLONI

On December 10 in Tokyo, Mr. NAMAZU Hiroyuki, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Mr. Frédéric Mondoloni, Director-General of Political Affairs and Security of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. The overview of the meeting is as follows;
- Senior Deputy Minister NAMAZU and Director-General Mondoloni concurred to advance the strengthening of the bilateral relationship between Japan and France, which are "Exceptional Partners" sharing values and principles.
- Senior Deputy Minister NAMAZU and Director-General Mondoloni had a broad exchange of views on regional situations, including the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine, and the Middle East. Both sides committed to strengthening cooperation on priority issues in the Indo-Pacific region, including their policies toward North Korea including on the abductions issue, the nuclear and missile issues as well as cryptocurrency thefts, responses to various actions by China, and the promotion of a free and fair international economic order.
- Senior Deputy Minister NAMAZU and Director-General Mondoloni also exchanged views on deepening cooperation in a wide range of fields, including the strengthening of the supply chains for critical minerals such as rare earths.
- Senior Deputy Minister NAMAZU and Director-General Mondoloni concurred that Japan and France will continue to cooperate closely within the framework of the G7, which France will assume the presidency next year.
