Result of the third Japan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue on Democratic Resilience

On November 21, the third Japan-U.S. Strategic Dialogue on Democratic Resilience was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. Amb. KAIHARA Kentaro, Ambassador in charge of UN Affairs and Deputy Assistant Minister, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the head of the Japanese delegation, and Amb. Julie Turner, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL), Department of State, as the head of the U.S. delegation, attended the Dialogue.
  2. Both sides exchanged views on human rights cooperation in Asia, as well as emerging human rights challenges such as transnational repression and misuse of surveillance technology, and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in the field of human rights between Japan and the U.S..
