  1. Japan welcomes the fact that the sixth elections for the Iraqi Council of Representatives were held in a generally peaceful manner on November 11 (local time).
  2. Japan hopes that the process towards the confirmation of the election results will proceed in a fair, peaceful and prompt manner, and that a new administration will be inaugurated as early as possible in Iraq. Japan also expects that the elections will serve as an opportunity for promoting further stability and development in Iraq.
