Logo for the Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has decided on the logo from 54 submissions as a result of a public call for submissions regarding the logo for the Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development.

  1. The creator of this logo is Mr. TANIKAWA Hiroki from Fukuoka Prefecture. The design uses colors that evoke "peace," symbolizes the earth with a "dove" and a round shape, adds a sense of dynamism to the wings, and supports the earth with hands, expressing the philosophy of contributing to problem-solving and supporting a new step forward.
  2. The logo will be used in public relations and other materials as the official symbol of this program.
  3. The Global Human Resource Development Program for Peacebuilding and Development has produced over 360 Japanese graduates, more than half of whom are working in international organizations and are active on the front lines. In 2027, this program will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The Ministry will continue to work on human resource development in the fields of peacebuilding and development.

This program, implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan since fiscal year 2007, aims to develop civilian experts from Japan and foreign countries who can play active roles in the field of peacebuilding. Currently, Hiroshima University has been commissioned to implement this program, and the United Nations Volunteers program is responsible for overseas dispatch. The program consists of the "Primary Course" for beginners aiming to build their careers and the "Mid-Career Course" for intermediates aiming for further success in international organizations. The program invites a diverse range of lecturers to help participants acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for working in international organizations, and also provides career development support such as application document preparation and interview guidance.
